on 16/OCT. As the focus on Daw Aung Suu Kyi and NLD activities increases both internally and internationally,SLORC is now trying to incite dissent among its civilians by creating friction between christians and buddhists.
In many places in the Karen State , the SLORC officers are now issuing orders that every house in a village must have a buddhist altar to show that they are buddhists. If anyone refuses , they will be evicted from the village.
In a village, the SLORC officers order the villagers to build a buddhist monastary even though there were no buddhists in the village. The villagers were forced to donate cash as well as labor for the monastary. The villager pastor and the church leaders were forced to lay the foundation of the monastary and worship it. Although they declined, they were forced against their wishes. If any house was found to be in the way of the monastary it was destroyed.
